Debate team will argue over poverty solutions

The Fremont Federation debate team has started practicing for the first tournament of the season. The team will take on a new topic this year — should the U.S. Federal Government substantially increase social services to reduce poverty in the United States?

About 17 students attended the first practice on Sept. 15 with Coaches Catherine Kuhn and Mya Whitaker.  Kuhn, who transferred from Paul Robeson to Skyline High this year, will be holding practices on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in room B3. Whitaker, who was the top debater for the Bay Area Urban Debate League, has been hired to assist Kuhn. Whitaker is a 2009 Skyline High School graduate.
