District closes Fremont's lunch

Fuey Saechao

Students standning in line for cafeteria lunch on Sept. 7. They no longer have the option to leave campus for lunch.

When students returned to school Aug. 30, they discovered that they were no longer able to grab a snack at the store or eat at Burger King.

That’s because the Oakland Unified School District closed Fremont Federation of High School’s campus for lunch. The district closed Castlemont Community of Small Schools and McClymond’s High School last year.

A full story on the closure and student reaction will be posted soon. Please keep checking back with us.
