The first day of school isn’t only for students. Paul Coover, 23, the new teacher also began his school year on Monday.

Coover is replacing Earl McKelvey, who retired, in the physical education department. Coover also plans on having a good cross country team and track team, which he will coach.

Coover transitioned from substituting in San Diego to teaching students in Oakland.

Coover was asked how he likes teaching at Fremont Federation of High Schools.

“I like Fremont,” said Coover.

He began teaching at Fremont during summer school.

“I’m excited to get everything rolling,” said Coover.
