CSU East Bay holds programs for students

California State University East Bay is holding literacy programs for Oakland students that are designed to build confidence and study habits. Professionals from the Institute of Reading Development will be directing the programs, which are available to students from 6th grade-college, all promising better test scores and an increase in reading comprehension.

These programs are divided into three sections; a 6th-8th grade program, 9th-11th grade program, and a 12th grade- college students program.

6th-8th Grade Program

The first program available to 6th-9th grade students will increase a student’s reading speed, give them the capability of finishing their homework quicker and help them develop crucial note-taking, reading and studying habits, according to a flyer from the university.

9th-11 Grade Program

The program for 9th-11th grade students promises to double reading speeds, prepare them for college by increasing college entrance exam test scores and putting the student at a higher reading comprehension level by one or two grades, CSU East Bay says.

12th Grade-College Level Program

Lastly, the program for 12th grade and college students will reportedly allow students to enjoy reading and have such good reading comprehension, it will eliminate re-reading altogether. Organizers say the program will give you useful note-taking and reading techniques and increase your reading speed.

The meeting will be held in Oakland at Merritt College, on 12500 Campus Drive.
