Advisory explores California Academy of Sciences

Instead of spending six to eight hours at school on Dec. 10, students in a Media Academy advisory run by case manager Eric DuBois traveled to California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco.

Students were supposed to pay $25 for the tickets but lucky for them, Principal Benjamin Schmookler allowed the money came out of the school fund.

Students met at Fruitvale BART station at 8:10 a.m. and rode to the Glen Park station. There, they waited for the Muni bus going to the California Academy of Sciences, which is in Golden Gate Park.

Many of the 16 students who went on the trip really enjoyed the field trip.

“It was very nice to go because we all had fun,” said student Jennifer Lopez. “We should have more field trips like this because we all learned and had had fun at the same time.”

DuBois was very happy to take his student on the field trip.

“We put all this pressure on them, so they deserved to have fun,” said DuBois.

The students arrived back at the Fruitvale BART Station at 3:10 p.m.
