Stanford 'prisoner': Yacco part of psychology experiment 40 years ago today

Richard Yacco is now Media Academy’s TV & Radio teacher, but 40 years ago, he was a college student who agreed to be a prisoner for an experiment.

In the summer of 1971, a group of Stanford college students had to simulate a prison environment. They were randomly divided into prisoners and guards. The experiment tested whether averaged people behaved badly when they were given police power.
