Mora wins essay contest, trip to Pixar screening

Media Academy sophomore Wendy Mora won an essay contest sponsored by the San Francisco Film Society a visit to Pixar studios to see a screening of “Inside Out” before it hits movie theaters across the country.

Mora won the contest for an essay she wrote in response to seeing “Romeo is Bleeding” on a Media Academy field trip to the San Francisco International Film Festival at the Kabuki Theater in Japantown on May 1. That film was a documentary about Donte Clark, a young poet who adapted Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet” to tell a story about gang violence in Richmond.

Mora, who also won an undisclosed amount of cash for her essay, was invited to see the new movie at Pixar’s Emeryville headquarters on June 3 along with three guests.
