Fremont High Principal Daniel Hurst announced on May 8 during an “urgent”  meeting with teachers and staff that he will not be returning next year.

It is uncertain as to who the new principal will be or if they will choose someone to fill the spot until a replacement can be found.

Hurst has been at Fremont for 28 years. He started here as a volunteer while he was a student at University of California, Berkeley.

He let teachers know through e-mail earlier on May 8 that there was an urgent meeting.

He was the only principal of Fremont’s College Preparatory & Architecture Academy when the campus consisted of three small schools for eight years and was last year chosen as the principal of the new Fremont High School.
