Lady Tigers start off with a bang

Fremont’s Lady Tigers soccer team started its 2011 season off with a bang.

The Lady Tigers played their first Oakland Athletic League game against Oakland High on Tuesday, Jan. 11. In front of their home crowd, the Lady Tigers dominated the Lady Wildcats in every possible way, earning a 10-1 victory.

“That’s the most points I think they ever scored,” said Athletic Director, Darlene Miller, referring to the Lady Tigers high scoring attack on Oakland High.

Many Lady Tigers soccer players were also very proud of their performance.

Cristina Martinez, a Media Academy junior and defensive middle fielder for the Lady Tiger’s soccer team, said, “I felt accomplished, motivated, and proud” when asked how she felt about the team’s recent victory.

With such a great start expectations were high heading into their second league game, which was held at Skyline. However, the Lady Titans proved too much for the Lady Tigers and Fremont suffered a disappointing loss.
